Most OverDrive audiobooks can be used on a variety of compatible media players, including the iPod® & iPadâ„¢.  All EPUB & many PDF eBooks on OverDrive are ready to enjoy on compatible readers such as the Sony® Reader, the Barnes & Noble nookâ„¢ or the Borders Kobo. Audiobooks, eBooks and music have a check out period of 21 days; videos check out for 7 days.  Check out up to 10 titles which automatically expire after either 21 or 7 days.  Users can personalize and set their own preferred lending period.  It is not possible to turn OverDrive items in early.

Any title placed on hold will be reserved for check out once it becomes available. When the title is available, you will receive an email with instructions on checking the item out. The item will be held for 2 days.

Once the lending period has elapsed, titles are automatically ‘returned’ to the OverDrive library. Certain titles can also be burned to CD. 

Getting Started with OverDrive

-visit RCPL online at www.myrcpl.com

-scroll over books, movies, music & more and click on downloadable media in the drop down menu

-Under OverDrive Digital Media Catalog, select inside the library or home access

-Read the quick start guide under digital media help to learn how to download and install free software.

-Search for a title using one of the options available

-Click Add to Cart

-Select Continue browsing or Proceed to Checkout.   Once added, items will remain in your cart for 30 min.

-After selecting Proceed to Checkout, enter your RCPL card number and pin (usually the last 4 digits of your phone number).

-Once you have checked out a title, a download page will be displayed.  Click download.  Once the download is complete, you can close your Internet connection and enjoy the materials offline or transfer to a portable device.
