Career Cruising
For students exploring college options or a potential career path or experienced workers considering a career change or continuing education, the assessments tools, career profiles, financial aid information and resume guides in Career Cruising makes this a powerful resource.

 

Career Information Center (e-book)
Contains 700 job profiles each with a job summary chart, a jobdescription and up-to-date salary information.

 

Learning Express
Learning Express includes test preparation materials and interactive practice exams such as ASVAB, GED or college preparation and civil service.

 

Perfect Interview
With Perfect Interview patrons can hone their interview skills online. Choose the length and type of interview needed. A professional interviewer appears on the screen asking the type of challenging questions that would be asked at a real interview. Questions can be repeated and sample answers and tutorials are available. With a web cam, interviews can be recorded and played back for review.

 

Testing and Education Reference Center
Use this database to search thousands of college and graduate school entries to identify scholarships, take on-line practice tests and use test prep e-books to obtain your education goals.

Cornell University has assembled this guide that includes disability information, including cases and decisions, associations and organizations, bibliographies and news. It also provides access to statistics and directories.

IMDiversity
This Web site has a career center where employees can search for jobs, post a resume and receive tips for a career search. It also includes information for employers, who can recruit employees through their job bank.

 

Similar to other job Web sites, these pages allow job seekers to post a resume or conduct a job search. The big difference here is that the Web site is designed to be “the source for diversity talent.” 

Seniors:

AARP, Jobs
This Web site is designed for those aged 50+ who are seeking a job. Users can conduct a job search here and then apply online through the individual employer’s Web site that is linked through their search. 

 

This Web site includes a wide variety of information and links, all designed for active seniors, though not limited just to employment. Seniors can find employment tips, a job search, tools to write a resume and information on where the jobs are and how to start your own business. 

 

This Web site includes a quick job search, the availability to post a resume and information about writing a resume. This information is free, and a user can also upgrade to a premium membership, which includes additional benefits such as a resume critique and live online career workshops.

 

Designed for people over the age of 50, this site allows members to save resumes, search jobs, apply online and receive new job notices. 

Teens and Young Adults:

GrooveJob

This job Web site is designed to find holiday jobs, part time jobs, teen jobs, student jobs and hourly jobs. It includes job searches, resume and interview tips and a special tool to create a resume, as well as the ability to apply for some jobs online. 
Designed specifically for teenagers, this Web site includes a job search and resume posting ability. In addition, it provides information for college planning, as well as additional job and career resources. It also provides a list of helpful books. 

 

This Web site markets itself to be the “one-stop portal…for students within the Federal Government, whether in high school, college, or graduate school.” It allows users to conduct a job search, post a resume, apply to Federal government jobs and receive job alerts. 

 

Designed for those people aged 14 to 19, this Web site has information for the full range of jobs – full-time, part-time, volunteer, vocational, summer and seasonal. With the free membership, users can search jobs, apply online and get job-related tips and information.

 

This Web site allows college students and recent graduates a place to search for job postings.  It also provides a large amount of information, tips and tools on job-related items.

Unemployment:

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, the site offers online workforce development resources for students, job seekers, businesses and professionals. Topics include exploring careers, resume writing, salaries, military transition, regional economic development and job searching. 

South Carolina Employment Resources
This is the official South Carolina government hub for employment information. Users are provided with the links to search for South Carolina state jobs, county jobs and the latest SC employment statistics.

South Carolina Employment Security Commission
On this state agency site, job seekers can search for jobs, locate workforce centers and find information on filing for unemployment insurance benefits.

Women:

This Web site is designed for women who are considering self-employment and has different tests and activities to guide the users in their choice. It also provides links to other resources, such as books and Web sites.

 

This extensive Web site gives information on working from home, advice for resumes, job searches and interviews, as well as information on career expos that are happening. It also has a job board that can be searched. 

 

For over a decade, this Web site has given “information, tools, networking opportunities and advice” to help women who are starting or growing their business.
