Junior Volunteers
Can I Volunteer?
If you're a rising 5th grader or older*, you can become a Junior Volunteer for the library. For year-round volunteer opportunities you may download our application** or pick one up in person at any RCPL location. If you're interested in volunteering during our special summer volunteer program, you may pick up an application at any RCPL location. Fill out your application and return it to any RCPL location.
Where can I volunteer?
Wherever you're interested in volunteering, just ask and a staff member will let you know if there are hours available.
When can I volunteer?
Scheduling is typically flexible. A staff member will help you choose the time that is best for you and the library.
How often can I volunteer?
During the summer, Junior Volunteers work one hour per week. During the school year, you may volunteer up to two hours per week.
What will I do when I volunteer?
Projects vary from week to week. Help sort and organize books, cut out nametags for storytimes, straighten up the library and get materials ready for special programs.
Why volunteer?
If you've ever been to a program at the library or seen the thousands and thousands of books and wondered how it all happened, then volunteering is for you. Junior Volunteers help library staff offer excellent programs for children and adults and make it easier for people to find the information they are looking for. Volunteers truly enrich the library and allow us to provide superb service.
Earn hours for community service projects, learn more about RCPL or simply start making a difference @ your library.
*If you are 14 and older, you may apply to be a Teen Volunteer.
