Pick of the Month

Who needs reality T.V.? Photo-illustrated books are an excellent way to see the world in its true form. You may read a story about a real sea turtle named Carolina, or find a book with pictures of a flower you've never seen before! This month's picks are all about the art of storytelling through photography.

Activities:

-Create photo books for the children in your class that contain pictures of their family, favorite places and things.  These books bring comfort and encourage children to talk, create stories, and to love books.
-A great way to learn names of new objects for young readers is to see them in their true image. Take interesting pictures around your house, classroom, or yard (or have a few of the children take some with a disposable camera) and let the children label and post them in areas where they might see those objects.
- Make your own animal A to Z book! Using your own photos from the zoo or magazine cut-outs, cut and paste together pictures of your favorite animals! How many letters can you find animals for?!!?
