    The Giver
    The Giver is a unique book. Lois Lowry writes a science fiction book whose main character, Jonas, becomes the keeper of memories. The person with this responsibility in the town is known as The Giver. This job is mentally and physically painful. Shockingly, he is the keeper of all the townspeople's memories including starvation and death. While Jonas feels emotions and sees colors, the others cannot see colors which means they can not feel strong emotions. The Giver is mind gripping and emotionally challenging. The Giver is a good book for young adult and adult readers. I found it completely different than any book I have ever read. The Giver has won many awards such as 1994 Newbery medal and Booklist Editor's choice. Although I felt unsettled at times when reading this book, all in all this book is a great book, and I highly recommend it.
